The lighting of the Barcelona cathedral choir, a woodcrafted jewel from the 12th century, had two main conditions: to respect the historical character of the building, and to maintain both its formal aspects and its materials.
The selection of the appropriate technology –optical fiber–, and the specific design to lighten this element were key to making an enduring intervention: by minimizing the visual impact of the elements that bring light, by reducing the maintenance needs (remote light source), and by lighting without damaging the materials, or the paintings.
